Frequently asked questions
What does Haldrea One do?
It watches the temperature and humidity around something you care about, such as a vivarium, an aquarium, a greenhouse, a second home or a fridge. It tells your phone when something looks wrong.
Do I need a subscription?
No. The Haldrea app and its push alerts are free. Haldrea Protect is an optional monthly subscription that adds text-message alerts, up to 13 months of history, PDF reports and several sites. It renews monthly and can be cancelled online at any time.
What happens in a power cut?
A rechargeable backup battery keeps Haldrea One measuring through a short power cut. If the connection drops, Haldrea keeps measuring and shows any alert on its own screen and light. Alerts need a working internet connection, so if your router has no power they may be delayed; the alert and the stored readings are sent as soon as the connection returns.
What if my WiFi doesn't reach?
We are testing Home Link: with two Haldreas in the same home, one that loses its WiFi can pass its alerts to the cloud through the other. Its readings are sent when it is back on its own WiFi. It works only within your home, does not extend your WiFi, and cannot help if your broadband is down. If it passes its tests, it will be included.
What happens if a probe fails?
Haldrea is designed so that a cut lead or an unplugged probe is reported as a fault, not as a reading you might believe. Each probe is checked and adjusted at the ice point before it ships.
Does it come with a calibration certificate?
No. Haldrea does not supply calibration certificates. Each probe is checked and adjusted by Haldrea before it ships.
Is it an alarm?
No. Haldrea is not an alarm or an emergency service. It sends alerts to your phone and shows them on its own screen and light, but alerts can be delayed or may not arrive. Please keep your usual checks in place for anything critical.
Does Haldrea have a microphone?
No. Haldrea One has no microphone. It does not speak; it has a quiet sounder that plays tones.
Can I use it for a food business?
Haldrea keeps a timestamped temperature log that supports your record-keeping. It does not make a business compliant with food-safety rules, which remain your responsibility.
Is it suitable for medicines or vaccines?
Haldrea One is not intended or sold for monitoring medicines or vaccines. Please use equipment made for that purpose.
Where is my data kept?
See our privacy page. If Home Link passes its tests, Haldreas in the same home may pass alerts through each other; these are encrypted and only Haldrea can read them.
When can I buy one?
Haldrea One is being built and tested now. Register your interest and we will tell you when it is ready.
